In May 2014, Carin was elected to be Chair of the Washington State Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”). AILA is the national association of more than 13,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that provides continuing legal education, information, and immigration law expertise through its 38 chapters and over 50 national committees.
As the Chair of the Washington State Chapter, my goal is to maintain our Chapter’s strong liaisons with local representatives at USCIS, CBP, EOIR, and ICE. I will also focus on keeping the Washington State AILA members informed and educated on critical immigration law and policy developments. In addition, I will be a member of the National Board of Governors for AILA and will represent Washington AILA members at all meetings of the national organization.
